KINDRED HEALTHCARE APPOINTS KATHLEEN M. WILJANEN AS VICE PRESIDENT OF MANAGED CARE

Louisville, KY (November 15, 2007) – Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE:KND) today announced the appointment of Kathleen M. Wiljanen as Vice President of Managed Care. This is a new position for the Company.

Prior to joining Kindred, Ms. Wiljanen was a Strategic Consultant with Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM). Ms. Wiljanen has worked in the field of insurance and managed care for more than 20 years, both on the payor and provider sides. She also has experience in managed care product design, pricing, contracting and sales and marketing.
